What a difference a day makes

Blogging anxiety strikes again. So much has been happening with Ivy and I’ve been rubbish at writing it down whcih leads to a fear that all will be forgotten. So much happens so quickly, from the smiles that started to arrive about 4 weeks ago to the giggles of the last couple of weeks and the teething that seems to have begun now. In a life-chaching world I feel like I should be doing more, but then I look back over the last 4 months and it seems that there is a lovely record created with the bits of photos and videos we’ve taken, just how to pull them together successfully is the problem as they sit strune over various media.

This is on my mind more so I guess because of where I’m working right now. The British Council does a lot of fine work, but the output is not clearly presented or represented successfully. It is in a brand identity crisis, especially here in the UK where its role as an organisation is shrouded in mystery. The first response I get is: “Oh right, the British Council, great. What do they do again?”

It is an organisation desperately playing internat catch-up. It’s reason for being is based on dialogue and cultural relations, but right now it doesn’t have the systems or people in place to do that successfully online. There is a panic to ‘be involved’ with ’social networks’ but at the moment it feels like an old uncle dad-dancing his way over to the young things at a party. They’re going to run a mile if we’re not careful.
